180 Movie

This past month, I viewed an amazing documentary. I am excited to say it's available for the general public to view. Please take 30 minutes to sit down and watch this. I promise you 180Movie will be life-changing and you'll want to share it with everyone you know. It may cause your friends and family to make a 180 in their beliefs about abortion.

After watching it, I hope you'll post your comments here about who you shared it with. Share it with people you know that are not pro-life. Like the people in this documentary, they may do a 180 from being pro-choice to an unwavering pro-life view. To find out more about this amazing documentary, visit 180Movie.com.

MLB Outreach 2011 - San Diego

For any of you who have ever gone fishing, perhaps you know the disappointment when you cast your line and wait for hours on end with not even a bite. Maybe you also know the joy of reeling in one fish after another.

The same can be true of evangelism - you cast your line and nobody bites. You long to preach the gospel to every creature but it seems that there is not a creature with an ear to hear.

I want to invite you to join me... on Friday April 8th to take part in the 2011 MLB outreach. I will be leading a team to the Petco Park in San Diego where there will be tens of thousands of fans waiting to hear the gospel! Well, they will actually be there to cheer on their favorite hometown team, but we will take advantage of the "fully stocked pond" to get the gospel into the hands of as many people as possible.

We will meet at 5pm at the corner of Park Blvd and 10th Ave (the East corner) and will hand out as many gospel tracts as possible before the game starts at 7pm.

I have ordered 5,000 MLB gospel tracts that were custom-made for this outreach. Let me know if you are able to join me. If we get enough people I will order more.

For those joining us from Orange County, I will be leaving Aliso Viejo at 3:15pm sharp. Let me know if you would like to carpool.

San Juan Capistrano Tree Lighting Ceremony 2010

This year the San Juan Capistrano Tree Lighting Ceremony falls on Saturday December 4. We will be there again to sing Christmas Carols, pass out "Carols By Candlelight" gospel tracts, and to preach the gospel to those attending. If you have never attended this ceremony in SJC, it is a very enjoyable evening. There is a concert in the park followed by the tree lighting, after which everybody heads over to the downtown area to take in the concert in Mission SJC or to enjoy the many sights and sounds in the downtown area.
The plan this year is to setup somewhere near the train station ~6pm. Get there early because parking can be difficult to find.
Send me an email if you plan to join us and I will give you my cell #. Jeff@LoveTheLost.org

Project Ezra - Aliso Viejo Town Center

Now that Easter at the Bren has come and gone at Compass Bible Church and the street teams are taking a well deserved break (a short one mind you - more on that later), I have been once again feeling the call to preach the gospel in the open air. So, I have decided to become active once again in Project Ezra which is a group of evangelists who simply read the scriptures weekly in public and preach the gospel in the open air. I have chosen the Aliso Viejo Town Center as the location for this and plan on making this a weekly endeavor - every Saturday night at 7pm. So, if you feel like stretching your evangelistic wings, come join me any Saturday night at 7pm at the Aliso Viejo Town Center at the ampitheater. Prayer warriors are encouraged to come too and pray as the gospel is proclaimed!

Prisoner Alert!

I just read over at my friend Tony Miano's blog, The Lawman Chronicles, that a dear brother in Christ, Shawn Holes, is currently sitting in a jail cell in Glascow, Scotland for preaching the truth about the sin of homosexuality.

Click here to read the article and please pray for brother in Christ, Shawn Holes.

(03/19/20 8am) Here is an update from Jeremiah Cry Ministries via Jon Speed:
We were preaching today on the streets and experiencing much adversity from police. We were warned not to preach against homosexuality, and if we did we could get arrested. Brother Shawn Holes was preaching when a group of young people began to shout questions at him. One question that they insisted on getting an answer was the issue of homosexuality. Shawn told them it was a sin against God, and that he loved them, and this is why he was telling them the truth, After he stepped down from preaching he was arrested and taken into custody. He will be in jail until tomorrow. He will stand before the judge tomorrow, and see what will come of this. Apparently this may be the first time this crime has been brought before a judge in this specific manner. We went back out to the street and began to preach again!!! We will not stop; may the Lord be glorified.

Swallows To Catch Fish

This Saturday (03/20), LoveTheLost team member Dave S. will be leading an evangelism team to the Swallow's Day Parade in San Juan Capistrano. The team will be meeting in the parking lot at SCCA at 8:30 am and will walk to the parade site from there. Come join us and help preach the gospel to every creature! Click here to read about last year's parade.

Door-to-Door Ministry

This past Sunday marked the third Sunday that teams from Compass Bible Church hit the streets in Aliso Viejo and Irvine to proclaim the gospel via door-to-door ministry and one-to-one witnessing. I had the privilege of leading the door-to-door team in Irvine. We have been using our "Bren Bags" to break the ice. These bags contain an invitation to our Easter services at the Bren Center, a tri-fold that has a great gospel tract and information about our church, and an audio CD from Pastor Mike with the message "But I've Always Been A Christian".

This has been my first experience with door-to-door ministry but won't be my last! I was somewhat apprehensive about door-to-door ministry but an encounter this weekend has completely wiped that away. I now KNOW that God can use door-to-door ministry in a big way.

Me and my son walked up to a door and knocked. Following some advice I gleaned from fellow Ambassador's Academy grad Carl Kalbfleisch, I stepped back from the door a couple feet so as to not be right in the person's face when they answer. A young man came to the door and I told him that I was there for two reasons, the first of which was to give him an invite to our Easter services that we are having at the Bren Center which we have rented out this year. I then explained the contents of the bag briefly.

"The second reason I'm here", I explained, "is to share the gospel with you... may I ask you a few spiritual questions?"

He gave me permission to continue so I then asked him what he thinks happens after somebody dies.

The young man told me that he thinks that there is a Heaven and a Hell and that if you have faith in God then you will go to heaven.

I questioned him about what it meant to have faith in God and he explained that Jesus Christ died for our sins so that we could go to heaven.

At this point I was suspecting that I was speaking with a Christian so I asked him what he would tell me if I had only 3 minutes to live and wanted to know how to get to heaven.

He paused for a moment to collect his thoughts and then said that he would ask me if I believed in God and if I have been "seeking him". He then paused again and asked me how I would respond in that situation.

At this point I turned the conversation around and began to share the gospel with the young man.
I used the Law as a schoolmaster and showed him by looking at the ten commandments that he had broken God's law.
He admitted that he had lied, stolen, and taken God's name in vain.
I told the young man that Heb 9:27 says that it is appointed for man to die once and after that comes the judgment.
He agreed that he would be guilty if God judged him based on the moral law and that it would be right for God to send him to Hell for breaking his law.
I then shared the good news with the young man and explained that God the Father sent his Son, Jesus Christ, who is fully God and full man, perfect and without sin.
I explained that Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life that we are not capable of living.
I explained that Jesus suffered and died on the cross, taking the punishment upon himself that we rightly deserve - that we broke God's law but Jesus paid the fine in his life's blood on our behalf.
I explained that Jesus rose from the dead on the third day because he was sinless and death couldn't even hold him.
I then told the young man that God commands us to repent - turn from our sins and forsake them... cast them off like we would a filthy rag, and turn to God. I explained that God also commands us to put our faith in Jesus Christ for salvation.
I asked the young man if he had heard the gospel presented like this before and if he had repented and put his faith in Jesus Christ.
He answered and explained that he had and that he was regularly attending a church in Irvine.
He then told me something that blew me away... he said that he had been recently praying to God to help him to share his faith. He said that our conversation was a direct answer to prayer because he really had no idea how to share his faith and our conversation was really helpful. We then had a rather long conversation about the gospel and the importance of sharing it in a way that is biblical and that rightly represents who God is.

Such a simple concept of putting some resources and an Easter invite into a bag and knocking on doors... but God can take the simple concept and use it in a HUGE way. God not only encouraged that young man, but also encouraged me that God can use the small things in a LARGE way. Soli Deo Gloria!!

Train Station Sundays - One Last Time

We have had an AMAZING time preaching the gospel at the San Juan Capistrano train station Sunday afternoons. God has truly blessed our efforts to reach out and love the lost in San Juan Capistrano. We have witnessed people respond in repentance and faith and have had the privilege to pray with several people. We have seen others encouraged by our witness and we have all become more bold in our witness together over the past year. Thousands of gospel tracts have been given out along with dozens of bibles. It has been truly amazing to see how God has blessed our simple obedience to the Great Commission.

This Sunday will be my last time at the train station on Sunday afternoons. I will be involved in a newly forming evangelism team at Compass Bible Church. We will be hitting the streets of Aliso Viejo and Irvine on Sunday afternoons starting January 31. My hope and prayer is that my brothers and sisters at SCCA will continue to go to the train station on Sunday afternoons so hopefully this will not mark the end of our witness at the train station... only the end of my involvement.

So, come join me this Sunday afternoon from 1:30-2:30pm at the San Juan Capistrano train station. We'll preach the gospel, hand out gospel tracts, and try to engage people in conversation.
